A matching connector is only one part of the check
The vehicle's equipment, module part number, hardware version, installed software and access requirements all matter. A physically similar unit may still be unsuitable. Where possible, enquire before buying a replacement and include both part numbers and the diagnosis behind the replacement.

Used modules and software requirements
Used control units are assessed individually. Vehicle identity, activation, security restrictions or incompatible software may prevent reuse through ordinary coding. We do not promise that every second-hand module can be adapted. Where programming or another specialist service is needed, that requirement is identified and scoped separately.
Workshops and retrofit installers
If a replacement lighting module or other control unit has already been fitted, send the installation details, fault codes and work attempted. We agree the assessment and supported coding scope before arranging the job. Questions before booking
Can every used BMW module be coded to another car?
No. Suitability depends on the control unit, vehicle identity, hardware, software and any activation or security requirements. We assess the specific unit before accepting the job.
Is module coding the same as programming?
Coding configures settings; programming installs software. A module may need one or both, or may be unsuitable. Programming is not automatically included in a module-coding quote.
Can coding fix a module that does not communicate?
Lack of communication needs investigation first. Power, wiring, network and module condition may need to be checked before a coding operation can be considered.
What should I send before ordering a part?
Send the VIN, the original part number, the proposed replacement part number and the diagnostic reason for replacement. We will explain what further evidence is needed for a compatibility assessment.
